We had a fabulous time out at Taupo Bay with 72 keen and enthusiastic students supported by a wonderful crew of whānau and staff. The focus of the camp was Whakawhānaungatanga and it was clear to see that the students and whānau enjoyed spending time together outside of the classroom. It was an excellent opportunity for the tamariki to spend time with students from other classes and for whānau to meet each other. The students were absolutely wonderful and their enthusiasm for giving things a go was impressive. Tau ana!

Our Camp Writing
I had a terrific time at Taupo Bay. The greatest activity was surfing. I was surprised I could surf across the waves. Kayaking was hard but I gave it a shot, when a wave came right towards me! I tipped the kayak over in the gigantic wave, then I saw stingrays!! After all the fun we had lunch, then had more fun.

Our whole group liked our camp. I was surprised about kayaking because I went with Sophia and we had a race on the kayak. We raced Aaraitangaand Layla. We fell off then they fell off, it was funny! We went surfing too, it was amazing because I almost fell off but then I stood up!

I had a terrific time at Taupo Bay. I loved surfing because it was my first time. I was surprised because I stood up. I got splashed in the face with waves because when we were kayaking me and Billie-Jean got in a kayak together and I was at the front.

Last week I had a great time at Taupo Bay. I felt scared to go surfing but my mum was helping me so I didn’t feel so scared. I was so impressed that I could stand up on the surfboard.

Camp was fantastic. I liked kayaking because we could catch the waves. We even flipped the kayak. I wasn’t scared because there were 2 people in the kayak. I was surprised I stood up on the surfboard because I have never stood up on a surfboard before. Nana hopped in the water with me when we were surfing.

We had a terrific time at Taupo Bay camp. I loved surfing because I almost stood up and the waves pushed me all the way to the shore.

Last week I had a brilliant time at Taupo Bay. I was really surprised that I was able to kayak with stingrays. I enjoyed kayaking the most because I didn’t flip over and you were taking care of me and Alani, so I wasn’t scared.

Last week I had a fantastic time at camp. I enjoyed surfing the mostI was surprised I could stand upon my first try surfing. Liked Nachos for dinner and they were delicious. I was worried about the kayaks because they flipped over 3 times. I picked up some rubbish on the creek walk where there was heaps.

I had a terrific time at Taupo Bay. You were very helpful. I was surprised that I could stand up on my surf board which has beautiful stripes. I felt very nervous when I got my surfboard. I really liked kayaking because I got pushed into the deep and then the waves hit me over and over and it overflowed!! I also got to catch a wave in my kayak.

Last week I had a lovely time at Taupo Bay. I enjoyed surfing. It was my favorite. I was scared that I would fall when I was standing up! Our whole group was brave enough to go kayaking. We flipped in the salt water. A big wave came and our kayak flipped over again. The kayak was full of water! Our kayak was heavy.

I enjoyed surfing, Narchos, ice cream sandwiches and playing in the park and then the creek walk. I was really scared at night because I thought there was thunder and rain and it was really cold. I was ok though because I had my friends surrounding me. I was surprised that I walked up Te Pu o Te Wheke!

Thankyou for taking the kayaks to Taupo Bay. I liked the big walk up Te Pu o Te Wheke. When I got to Taupo Bay my eyes were happy! I loved the camp ground and we were so hot. But my most favorite part was surfing because I got to stand up.

Our whole group loved Taupo Bay camp. I enjoyed kayaking because the waves were small so the waves did not flip me. I also enjoyed surfing in the big waves but I was a bit bad at it. I was surprised that Ngawais’ kayak sank and she tried to get into my kayak. This camp made me feel braver at surfing.

I had a terrific time at Taupo Bay. I was worried about kayaking. I thought I would get tipped into the sea. So I didn’t go on them.I enjoyed the creekwalk because I love to build dams like a beaver. I felt fantastic at camp.

I had a brilliant time at Taupo Bay. I enjoyed surfing so much. I was so surprised that I could go on my feet for the first time. I was so happy and the waves were big. I was so scared that I would fall off and get hurt. I was closing my eyes.

Last week I had an amazing time at Taupo Bay. I enjoyed kayaking and surfing! I felt terrific. It was a fantastic time. My favorite thing was the walk. I was surprised I could stand up on the surfboard and that I knew how to surf. When I was kayaking I thought I would fall out because I always fall out when I go kayaking, I freaked out because of the stingrays in there!

I enjoyed it when I flipped over on the kayak lots of times. I was surprised when Whaea Deb said to me that the cookie pie was amazing! ( I was so happy when she said that to me) she pleaded with me for the recipe for the cookie pie and I told her! I was surprised when Shelby said to me that there was stingrays in the water by her kayak.

Last week we had a brilliant time at Taupo Bay. Nothing was boring or not fun. The funniest thing was surfing and the creek walk. Surfing was fun because I stood up 1 time.I could most likely stand up but the surfboard was too big and the waves were too small. Also the reason why I liked the creek walk was because I made a fishing rod Lloyd and Xavier found a big thick long log which is how we made the rod.

Last week I had a terrific time at camp. I enjoyed the creek walk and I loved surfing. It was difficult to kayak because the waves were hitting my face and my nose and I did not like it at all! I did not know that I liked surfing. I did not know how it got so dark so quickly.

Last week I had a terrific time at Taupo Bay camp. First when we got there we took our bags and then we went into our tent. I felt so excited! Then we went to the beach. Whenwe got there it was pretty rough. We weren’t allowed to go kayaking but we were allowed to go swimming! I was surprised that I could go kayaking in the sea!

My favorite food at camp was spaghetti because that’s my favorite food. And the breakfast I loved the milo I was sad on the last day because I had so much fun.
